David Kaplansky, DPM

Board-Certified Foot & Ankle Surgeon | Lapiplasty® Specialist in Columbus, Ohio

Dr. David Kaplansky is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon in Columbus, Ohio, and the owner of Kaplansky Foot & Ankle Centers, with offices in Columbus and Reynoldsburg. With over 20 years of surgical experience, Dr. Kaplansky is widely recognized for his expertise in Lapiplasty® bunion correction, sports-related foot and ankle injuries, and advanced non-surgical treatments.
Kaplansky Foot & Ankle Centers was founded in 1972 by Dr. Ronald Kaplansky, Dr. Kaplansky’s father, and has served Central Ohio for more than five decades. Dr. David Kaplansky worked alongside his father for over ten years before proudly taking over the practice in 2015. Under his leadership, the practice has remained a private, independent podiatry practice, continuing its legacy of individualized care, kindness, and trust while incorporating the most advanced technology in modern foot and ankle medicine.
As a surgeon, Dr. Kaplansky focuses on root-cause correction and long-term outcomes. He is particularly known as one of Central Ohio’s leaders in Lapiplasty®, a three-dimensional bunion correction technique that addresses the instability at the base of the big toe to reduce recurrence and improve durability. Patients often seek Dr. Kaplansky for complex bunions, failed bunion surgery, and active-lifestyle concerns, as well as for clear communication and thoughtful surgical planning.
In addition to surgical care, Dr. Kaplansky provides advanced non-surgical treatments including PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections for foot and ankle conditions and MLS laser therapy for pain, inflammation, and sports injuries. These treatments are used strategically to help patients avoid unnecessary surgery, enhance recovery, and return to activity safely.

Training, Teaching, and Surgical Experience

For more than 20 years, Dr. Kaplansky has been actively involved in training podiatric surgical residents, helping educate the next generation of foot and ankle surgeons. His ongoing involvement in teaching ensures that his practice remains grounded in evidence-based medicine, surgical precision, and continual improvement.

A Commitment to Excellence in Care

Dr. Kaplansky believes that the best patient outcomes come from highly trained teams with integrated artificial intleligence. He places strong emphasis on recruiting, training, and supporting exceptional clinical and administrative staff who share his commitment to professionalism, empathy, and personalized care. Patients consistently describe the practice as thorough, welcoming, and attentive.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kaplansky enjoys staying active and spending time with his children. He is an avid pickleball player and understands firsthand the demands that sports place on the feet and ankles. This perspective directly informs his approach to treating athletes and active adults with foot and ankle injuries.
